Arabic: Level 2

Developed in conjunction with the Arabic Flagship Program at Indiana University, this intensive, immersive, comprehensive course is for students who have elementary proficiency in Arabic and want to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills.

Modern Standard

Key Skills students will acquire

  • function effectively on a day-to-day level in an Arabic-speaking environment through authentic materials, including news, videos, podcasts, chats, stories, articles, etc.
  • function effectively in an Arab cultural environment through Arab cultural activities and structured interactions with speakers of Arabic
  • develop a solid foundation for travel or advanced study.

 

Key deliverables

  • ACTFL OPI Proficiency Certificate
  • IU transcript for credit transfer

Workload

  • Group instruction: 15 hours/week, 135 hours total
  • One-on-one instruction: 80 min/week, 12 hours total
  • Cultural activities: 60 min/week, 10 hours total
  • Independent work: est. 10 hours/week, est. 90 hours total
